About Design My Idea

Brian Gates founded Design My Idea in October 2005 after experiencing the invention process with his own product Corg. While working with a promotional company he proceeded to design, engineer and package his product for retail. During this process he was exposed to other inventors in need of the same services and quickly realized the need for high quality design services at affordable rates.
Leveraging his background in web development and proper engineering techniques he devised a unique business model where the process of developing a product could be tailored to fit the needs of an inventor. This model minimizes the cost incurred by the inventor while providing the same quality of professionalism you would see from large development firms.
Over the years, Design My Idea has helped to develop hundreds of products in just about every category and marketed to every major retailer.

President

Brian Gates graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Graphics Technology specializing in Manufacturing Graphics. The degree combines CAD engineering and industrial design to create an extremely adaptable and competent designer.
He started in the design industry several years ago designing universal remote controls at Universal Electronics Inc. His designs and concepts were utilized by Kenwood, Radio Shack and several other high-end electronics retailers. In addition, his innovation and creativity secured numerous patents (7,209,116, 7,013,434, 7,821,499, 7,746,324, and 7,412,653).
After accepting a consulting position with Rand Worldwide he had the opportunity to provide CAD development services and user training across North America. During his employment he worked with such clients as Diamond Aircraft and Northrop Grumman.
As gratifying as it was to provide these services, his entrepreneurial passions pulled him away to Summers/Murphy & Partners where he was offered the opportunity to pioneer the usage of 3D renderings for landscape architecture. His efforts resulted in a methodology for streamlining the transition from 2D to 3D while being able to maintain the look of traditional sketches, offering the best of both worlds.
He later co-founded a web design company called Intentin Design, specializing in web application development. The company has steadily grown and matured into a full service web design company providing world class applications for multi-million dollar corporations.
Brian has a passion for design and the entrepreneurial spirit that inherently resides in all inventors. His ability to see and understand design from all perspectives results in unique solutions to everyday problems.
