Invention Prototyping Services

Using a wide range of rapid prototyping technologies and material, Design My Idea offers quick turnaround and the expertise of invention product prototyping to fulfill all your needs. Whether this is a complex working prototype, or a showcase mockup for aesthetics only, let Design My Idea choose the right process for your invention prototype.
Product Prototyping Uses & Capabilities:

- Rapid Tooling / Rapid Prototyping - Bridge Rapid Tooling is used for short-batch manufacturing quantities from 50 to 2,000. Short Run Rapid Tooling, for quantities of 1,000 to 100,000 units. This is normally used for proving the concept of the final design and gaining samples to disperse to larger scale manufacturers.
- Rapid Manufacturing - This innovative process allows manufacturing directly from our inventor's CAD model, eliminating expensive tooling costs, lowering development overhead and increasing production speed. Small sized, low quantity, complex specialty items fit the bill for this service.
- Sterolithography Prototype - Highly accurate laser-molded part production. Can be used as master patterns for injection molding core and cavity inserts, thermoforming, blow molding and various metal casting processes.
- Selective Laser Sintering - SLS prototypes are created by fusing or sintering powdered thermoplastic materials or metals to form functional prototypes. An advantage to using SLS is the range of materials that can be prototyped, including nylon, metals and elastomers.
- Polyjet 3D Printing - 3D prototyping or 3D rapid prototyping uses a 3D printing process to quickly make low quantities of rubber-like parts. This invention prototyping technique uses PolyJet technology to extrude a photo polymer from a print-head and cure it with a UV lamp.
- RotoCAST - This allows Design My Idea to create thin wall hollow prototypes. RotoCAST prototyping is applicable for tanks, bottles and the like.
- Precision Machined Castings - Using a stereolithography prototype, a casting may be made from any metal.
- Injection Molding - Injection Molding used in conjunction with rapid tooling allows quantity production up to 50,000 units for any thermoplastic medium. Many samples and items use injection molding as short run production and initial samples.
- Investment Castings - Investment Castings are also known as wax castings, which are used for creating multiple metal parts quickly without expensive tooling. This is typically used for low-quantity requirements. These castings are great for testing and proof of concept work for metal-based prototypes.
Our designers and prototyping specialists will help match the best services for your prototyping needs; whether you need 2-3 invention samples for pitching to a major distributor for licensing, or 5,000 working prototypes for market testing. If you do not find your prototyping needs here, please contact us with your requirements, as specialty prototyping needs can typically be accommodated. |
Success Story

"Thanks for the work you have done. I look forward to seeing this cup out on the market :)"- Brian
DoubleSip – Design My Idea produced a rapid prototype and production samples for a unique beverage container.
The DoubleSip is a plastic cup that has to separate chambers allowing for the user to contain multiple beverages. The client wanted to experience the cup in hand as well as begin to showcase the device to potential buyers.
Design My Idea produced a rapid prototype using the SLA method to validate the design and then developed a rapid tool to produce samples for user testing.
DoubleSip is currently seeking investors and licensers to utilize their product. |
